How to place your bed according to Feng Shui principles

The bed is the most important part of the bedroom. Its positioning according to Feng Shui principles is essential both for a good rest and, implicitly, for maintaining health, as well as for well-being and prosperity. In this article, you will learn how to place your bed according to Feng Shui principles.

Bed positioning

No matter where the bed is placed, you should see the window and bedroom door from the bed. Also, the sun should “touch” the bed at sunset to absorb the energy of nature and have a restful sleep. The bed should be parallel or perpendicular to the bedroom wall, to avoid a sense of instability. Also, the bed should not be placed in front of the air conditioner. Conditioned air in front of the bed is not healthy and influences fertility.

The dead position

The bed shouldn’t directly face to face with the bedroom door. A bed where you will be standing with your feet forward to the door is similar to the dead position and is unhealthy in the feng shui tradition. In this position, you can feel headaches because of the subconscious feeling of insecurity while you sleep. During the night you lose energy and you can feel weaker and weaker. This is true for any kind of door. There may be a door at the entrance to the bedroom, the entrance to the bathroom (if you have a bathroom in the bedroom), the balcony door and even the door to the wardrobe. If you have the bed in such alignment, it’s advisable either to change the position of the bed or to block the energy by placing a screen to mask the door.

Bathroom and kitchen
Don’t put the bed on the common wall with the bathroom or face to face with the bathroom door. According to the Feng Shui theory, the bathroom belongs to the water element and is the Yin element (the negative/passive/feminine principle of nature), and the placement of the bed in this way can cause kidney disorders, back pain, rheumatism, headaches.

To counterbalance these effects, it is recommended to create an additional “wall” made with plants between the bathroom and the bedroom.

Isn’t advisable to put the bed on the kitchen wall, because your sleep will be agitated.

Isn’t advisable to put the head of the bed oriented to the west. If you have your head to the west, the blood will go to your head and you will not be able to sleep peacefully. It is best to place the head of the bed to the south, and the feet to the north, to avoid geomagnetic interference.

Beams and mirrors
Don’t place the bed under a beam. You will feel your body hard. If you have a beam over your head you will feel stressed. The same can happen if you have air conditioning or luster above your head.

The bed in front of the mirror is not a good thing. You can feel dizzy, sleepy and have headaches. If you can’t get rid of the mirror, cover it during the night.
