4 Dangerous bacteria that can develop in your fridge

We know that bacteria develop most often in warm and humid environments, but the truth is that some bacteria prefer cold places. Pathogens develop at temperatures between 4.4 and 60 Celsius degrees and generally don’t affect the taste, smell or appearance of food, so we can ingest them without realizing it. Therefore, it’s important that the refrigerator temperature to be always set between 1 and 4 degrees Celsius, to keep the food fresh and to prevent as much as possible the development of pathogenic bacteria.

Symptoms of an infection with this bacterium usually occur 6-48 hours after the consumption of a contaminated food and can last from 4 to 7 days, and patients often require hospitalization.

Listeria is a bacteria that primarily contaminates unpasteurized milk, dairy products or insufficiently cooked meat. Listeriosis, the disease caused by this bacterium, is even more risky for pregnant women, children or people who suffer from other conditions or already have a weakened immune system.
